Cervical Health Awareness Month

January is Cervical Health Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness about the importance of cervical cancer screening and prevention. According to the National Cervical Cancer Coalition, “each year, more than 13,000 women are diagnosed with cervical cancer in the United States. Yet cervical cancer is one of the most preventable cancers today. In most cases, cervical cancer can be prevented through early detection and treatment of abnormal cell changes that occur in the cervix years before cervical cancer develops.”

The resources below were provided by the NCCC to educate the public about cervical cancer, HPV, and more. For Sublette County residents interested in the HPV vaccine, please contact Public Health. Cervical screenings can be scheduled by setting up an appointment with a visiting provider

Understanding Cervical Cancer Prevention

Patients who are well-informed about tests and procedures –including why they’re having them in the first place- are empowered healthcare consumers. Understanding Cervical Cancer Prevention is designed to take the mystery out of the process so you will feel confident to speak up, ask questions of your healthcare team, and become an advocate for your health and well-being. This tool from NCCC will walk you through the process of a typical cervical cancer screening so you can know what to expect.

There's Hope

Let's close Cervical Health Awareness Month with a hopeful outlook. Early detection through routine screenings and vaccination against HPV are powerful tools in the fight against cervical cancer. The resources highlighted here provide valuable information and support, empowering women to take charge of their cervical health.
